I was asked to find a slideshow component for joomla.. preferably not flash based since most of flash based components are browser dependent.

so my next choice would be an ajax-based component and i found Smooth Gallery which is pretty amusing and simple…

Here’s the demo

According to the creator(s), the instructions
are easy.

But apparently after following the steps, i got this:

The handler could not be attached..

I browsed through the forums and found out that this was apparently caused by the event not being handled or so i should say that the script necessary to handle the event is not loaded properly..

This may be caused by the inclusion of the scripts in the header of my index.php. and so, i put out the if conditions in my header, so as to load the scripts immediately.

<?php //if (mosGetParam( $_REQUEST, ‘option’) == ‘com_frontpage’) { ?> <link href=”<? echo $mosConfig_live_site; ?>/mambots/content/smoothgallery/css/jd.gallery.css” rel=”stylesheet” type=”text/css” />
<link href=”<? echo $mosConfig_live_site; ?>/mambots/content/smoothgallery/css/slightbox.css” rel=”stylesheet” type=”text/css” />
<script type=”text/javascript” src=”<? echo $mosConfig_live_site; ?>/mambots/content/smoothgallery/scripts/mootools.js”></script>
<script type=”text/javascript” src=”<? echo $mosConfig_live_site; ?>/mambots/content/smoothgallery/scripts/jd.gallery.js”></script>
<script type=”text/javascript” src=”<? echo $mosConfig_live_site;?>/mambots/content/smoothgallery/scripts/slightbox.js”></script>

<?php //} ?>

I know it’s such a lame solution but i have made the mambot to work..

And I am enjoying it now… Thanx to tara and those who strive hard to contribute to the joomla community!
